News

Pride now manages this page

Last summer (for my own amusement), I wrote a little blogging tool which used PHP and XML which for some reason I called "Pride" (it was a clever name at the time, and I've totally forgotten why). Since I am re-designing the whole of dsky.co.uk, I thought it would be a good idea to update what I'd written and use it for this news page.

One day, when it's more complete (I do at least need to write some sort of user-friendly editor) I may release it.

New JFortune and Toolkit

Updated JFortune to 0.0.4 (new version of toolkit).

Second (0.0.2) release of my toolkit for java (includes routines for command line parsing as used in JFortune and various bits of maths).

New JFortune and first release of Toolkit

Released version 0.0.3 of JFortune.

First release of my toolkit for java (includes routines for command line parsing as used in JFortune).

New JFortune

Released version 0.0.2 of JFortune.

Website now in PHP

Moved website to dynamically generated (PHP4) XHTML-strict with CSS2. Pretty ^_^.

New layout and JFortune

After a really heavy year (stress and group projects), I finally have time to work on this site and my software. There is a new version of "Fortunes for Java" (or JFortune for short) on its way, I doubt there will be a C# version for... quite some time, if ever (although if anyone is actually using it and wants one, e-mail me and I'll start work on it).

There should also be a new quotefile with more quotes, thanks to some submissions by a friend.

I am rebuilding the website in PHP, so expect it to look darn ugly for a while, bear with me - if you have any comments about the design, please e-mail me.

Fortunes in C#

I've ported my java fortune program to C#. This is mostly an intellectual exercise since java is faster and more widespread but anyway...

C#/Java Benchmark

I've done a quick benchmark for C# and java. See the MontecarloPI package. Please don't use this to help you pass the Scientific Programming course at Edinburgh Uni. or I will get very annoyed ^_^

Created "Software" Site

So basically I've put this site together this afternoon - there is only one software package available - my port of the UNIX fortune program to the java environment. This is in _very_ early development, but I am releasing it at this stage so that windows users can enjoy my fortune file of Buffy quotes (on the main site). It is distributed in both source and bytecode form here. It is distributed under my open license on the right. PLEASE READ IT. If you don't you've agreed to something you haven't read. You wouldn't sign a contract that you hadn't read would you?
